Character Name: Jane Doe/The Thunderbolt
Character Journal: batteries_not_included
Physical Description: Jane has the appearance of a woman in her late twenties with silver hair and dark, somewhat unnatural eyes. Her movements, mannerisms, and general appearance all appear to be somewhat unnatural and subtly indicate her artificial nature.
Age: (chronologically) 58. Total years activated: less than 1
DOB: built on May 5, 1956
PB: Beau Garrett
Character Location/Home: wherever the Invaders are going to be based out of
Alignment: Good
Relatives: Jim Hammond (fellow Horton-type android), Phineas Horton (creator of overall designs), various other Horton-type androids ("brothers" and "sisters")
Abilities: Jane is a self-powered android who requires neither food nor sleep (but can perform both actions). Her primary power is the ability to generate and manipulate electricity, resulting in being able to generate an electrical field through and around her body similar to the fiery-forms of the various Human Torches. She possesses flight, the ability to project electricity, and can control electricity in various forms.
Weaknesses and Flaws: Jane is inexperienced in the ways of the world and in people in general. As an electrically-powered individual, she is vulnerable to water disruption and short-circuiting. Though self-powered, she is capable of exhausting her supply of spendable electricity and will require time to recover.
Personality: At present, Jane is much more machine than person. While capable of emotions, she has difficulty understanding or expressing them, and has little understanding of human behavior. Restraint does not come easily to her, and she possesses little understanding of the value of human life. She is learning, slowly, but she definitely comes off as more unfeeling machine than anything else.
Backstory: Following the disappearance of the Human Torch in the mid 1950's, the United States government attempted to recreate the android hero. These reproductions were abject failures, resulting in murderous or unstable creations, as well as walking thermite bombs with little self-awareness. They also made several attempts to create androids aligned along other elemental axis. The majority of these were also failures.
Two of these, a male and female android, the Lightning and the Thunderbolt, were modest successes. But the eventually, the program was discontinued, as other options and alternatives began to present themselves. The male android, however, was more quickly self aware, and the Lightning went on a rampage. With few options, the scientists involved in the project sent the Thunderbolt after him, and she managed to defeat her male counterpart.
Afterwords, however, she was sealed away and the project forgotten about.
An accident of fate, a lightning storm, actually, awakened the android from where her cryonic capsule had been buried. Damaged and confused, she too went on a rampage, until she was stopped by a SHIELD team and Jim Hammond, the original Human Torch. It was then that she was discovered to be a Horton-type android, and Jim volunteered to provide for her care and teach her about the world... reluctantly submitting to SHIELD supervision.
The Thunderbolt took on the human name "Jane Doe," as it was, to quote her, "An appropriate name for someone with no known identity."
Meanwhile... many other elemental androids may yet be buried out there...
Plans: Join the new Invaders, discover what it means to be her, hunt down the other elemental androids in her family tree...
